2004
Weather and Harvest Conditions
The 2004 vintage began with a mild, dry winter. A cool, dry spring then gave way to a warm, clear summer from New Year’s Day. Fruit set was as normal. An otherwise perfect year was marred by significant rainfall around the 6th February, where 375ml of rain fell in 48 hours. The result was that the fruit swelled and would have broken had there been any further rain. Fortunately, the summer was excellent with no more rain until three weeks after harvest. The fruit was harvested in excellent condition.

Tasting Notes
The 2004 presents with a dry nose of mineral clay and red berry. A medium-ruby colour. On the palette the wine shows soft, well rounded fruit followed by complex, dusty tannins. An incredibly focussed and balanced body, with delicate length. A very enjoyable wine just coming into the drinking window. Will develop for a further 10 years.
